Paul and Jenny set the company up in January of 2017 with a three year business plan to cater for the specialist high-end design, supply and installation of gas and solid fuel fireplaces. Brian Harkin joined soon after and things took off very quickly. We developed our offering steadily to include supply and installation of commercial flues, flue pressure testing, CCTV camera surveys, flexi-trace surveying, electronic flue system controls and a host of other specialisms. We recruited for the long term, offering good rates of pay, training and career prospects for hard working team members. Every full time worker - no matter what their main job role - is expected to have a CSCS card and to do regular site work so that absolutely everybody in the company has a good understanding of exactly what it is that we do and what it takes to do it well.

Our Story

After three years we found that we had completely outstripped the original aims of the business plan and were planning a milestone celebration for our third anniversary - then Covid-19 came out of the blue. Despite the shock, we found that we were resilient enough to get through what turned out to be one of the worst modern economic disasters that the UK has ever endured and began recruiting for our three to five year plan. Having built a great reputation and a loyal customer base, we now are fully ready to take the business to the next level. Watch this space!

Managing Director: Paul Kennedy. ACMI Ba (Hons) Business.

Paul has been in the business for over twenty five years and has wide ranging experience of all aspects of flue and chimney related work including, manufacture, installations, surveying, contracting, design and engineering. Paul is also a qualified electrician, CAD designer and fabricator welder.

During a successful career working for other companies he has held posts including Manufacturing Manager, Installations Manager, General Manager and Operations Director.

Paul is also a qualified electrician and fabricator / welder.

Financial Director: Jennifer Kennedy. BSc (Hons) MSc.

Jennifer has enjoyed successful careers in crop protection as a Development Officer in the UK and Head of Quality Assurance for Central Europe and Scandinavia for Novartis / Syngenta, followed by a teaching career as a teacher of Science to GCSE and Biology to A level. She maintains contact with students as a trainer for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Jennifer also speaks German.

Installations Manager / Gas Engineer: Brian Harkin.

Brian gained invaluable skills and experience as an NCO in the British Army. Over a ten year career serving with the Royal Engineers in many challenging environments, he developed an innate understanding of how to get the best out of people and how to keep a project on track under pressure. He served as a combat engineer and and learned his trade as a heating and plumbing engineer in the army. Since leaving the army he has continued to employ those skills and has managed large and complex projects at FlueCraft.

Installations Team

Flue Installer / Gas Engineer: Callum Peach.

Callum began his gas career as a trainee in 2011 and has been a fully qualified gas engineer since 2013. He has been registered with Gas Safe for a number of years.

Before joining the team at FlueCraft in early 2017, he worked on domestic boilers and central heating systems for a year, and high end domestic gas fire and flue systems for two and a half years.
Callum is a very 'hands on' engineer and has put his knowledge, skill and experience to very good use at FlueCraft.

Richard is a highly experienced flue installer and team leader and has worked on many of our larger projects providing full on-site co-ordination, reporting and excellent organisation.

Jason has had over two years’ experience of installing flues for FlueCraft. He came to us after gaining invaluable skills in the Royal Signallers and then as a Drainage Engineer at EEG.

John has been with us for over two years now and is a key member of our installations team with experience in commercial, domestic, open flued and closed flued systems as well as Furanflex lining.

Guy has joined FlueCraft with six years of experience in the flue industry already under his belt, including installations management and health, safety and compliance management. Adam is a highly reliable and hard working flue installer. He is currently studying for a degree in Civil Engineering at Cardiff University. To gain experience on large building sites Adam works as a Flue Installer during his holidays.

William Stephens.

William has many years of experience as a CAD Technician and has gained a wealth of knowledge working on large scale multiple flue projects. He has also worked in the agricultural sector designing large buildings for commercial operations. William's speciality is in the design and installation of high-end domestic fireplace and flue systems, including mechanical and electrical controls and regulatory requirements.

Dylan joined us in 2020 after ten years in the flue engineering business. He has previously held posts in trade counter and commercial sales (flues), two years as a flue installer topped off with five years as a sales engineer. Dylan has a proven track record and a wealth of experience in high-end and commercial flue design, sales and installations and is ideally placed to take our sales to the next level.
